The Rewards!

Foster Care has many unique and sometimes exhausting challenges; But has so many unparalleled rewards!

For a Foster Parent there is truly nothing more rewarding than seeing your consistent and unconditional love and care, light up the eyes of an abused/neglected child ~ chasing the shadows of hurt away!  What a privilege to experience this amazing metamorphosis in them … one day at a time!

As a foster parent you are allowed the unique opportunity of:

  • Experiencing every day as being a new beginning.
  • Being blessed to be a part of and witness to these broken childrens progress and healing.
  • Experiencing their gratitude as they absorb your love and attention with the intensity of dried up sponges.
  • Being a part of writing the message of hope and healing in their lives.
  • Knowing that you have not only made a difference in one child’s life, but in the lives of all the people they are going to touch in their lives, and that of their own future families.
  • You are helping them to break the repetition of their inherited ‘family cycle’ of abuse/neglect.

About Helouise Steenkamp

I'm a 45 plus, Devoted Wife and Mother. Adonai has blessed us with two Amazingly Wonderful Sons. We have had the privilege of being Place of Safety parents for 1 1/2 years and there after foster parents to a Darling Princess for 5 years. She was reconciled with her biological parents in Dec'14. Our hearts are still aching from the loss, but we know that as we trust Adonai with our salvation, so we can trust Him with her future. We welcomed our new 4 year old foster child on 05JUN'15.
