When Louis was six, he was placed in Foster Care with Mary. “At first, I felt it was just another foster home,” Louis, now 21 said. “I did things to test my mother—breaking dishes and windows, just to see if it was real. When I had more serious problems with the law in sixth grade, my mother looked at me and said, ‘Well, have I passed all the tests?’ I looked into her eyes and said, ‘Yes.’ I knew this person would not abandon me like everyone else. After that I never had any more troubles”.
